RPOA organized Inspector Training Workshop on the FAO Port State Measures Agreement in Malaysia
Regional Plan of Action (RPOA) to Promote Responsible Fishing Practices Including Combating IUU Fishing in the Region menyelenggarakan Inspector Training Workshop on the FAO Port States Measures Management pada tanggal 7 s/d 11 Juni 2011 di Hotel Grand Bluewave Johor Bahru, Malaysia yang didanai oleh Australian Fisheries Management Authority (AFMA) bekerjasama dengan Department of Fisheries (DoF) Malaysia. Acara ini dibuka oleh Mr. Ahmad Hazizi bin Aziz, Director of Fisheries Biosecurity Division mewakili Director General Department of Fisheries Malaysia Dato’ Ahmad Sabki B. Mahmood, dengan Sekretariat RPOA yang diwakili oleh Mr. Ir. Budi Halomoan Lubis, M.Si. (Indonesia-PSDKP).
Regional Plan of Action (RPOA) to Promote Responsible Fishing Practices Including Combating IUU Fishing in the Region invent Inspector Training Workshop on the FAO Port States Measures Management on June 7 to June 11, 2011 at the Grand Bluewave Hotel Johor Bahru, Malaysia, funded by Australian Fisheries Management Authority (AFMA) in collaboration with the Department of Fisheries (DoF), Malaysia. The event was opened by Mr. Hazizi Ahmad ibn Aziz, Director of Fisheries Biosecurity Division, representing the Director General Department of Fisheries Malaysia, Dato 'Ahmad Sabki B. Mahmood, with the RPOA Secretariat, represented by MR. Budi Halomoan (Indonesia-PSDKP)
Tujuan penyelenggarakan training ini adalah meningkatkan kapasitas sumberdaya manusia inspeksi kapal perikanan yang kuat untuk mengimplementasikan ketentuan dalam menerapkan FAO Port States Measures Management dimana peserta (1), terbiasa dengan latar belakang peraturan internasional (2), mahir dengan ketentuan memerangi IUU Fishing, (3), terlatih dalam prosedur inspeksi, (4), mampu menentukan contoh rencana pemeriksaan kapal, (5), terbiasa dengan dokumen Port States Measures Management, (6), menghargai informasi yang berkaitan dengan IUU Fishing, (7), mampu membagikan pengalaman pelatihan.
The purpose this training is to enhance human resource capacity strong fishing vessel inspection to implement the provisions in applying the Port States Measures Management where participants (1), familiar with the background of international law (2), proficient with the provisions combat IUU Fishing, (3), trained in inspection procedures, (4), manage to ship sample inspection plan, (5), used to document the Port States Measures Management, (6), appreciated the information relating to IUU fishing, (7), able to share training experiences.
Pelaksanaan Inspector Training Workshop on the FAO Port States Measures Management dilakukan dengan cara paparan materi dalam Agreement on Port States Measures to prevent, deter, and eliminate Illegal, undreported, and undregulated fishing (IUU Fishing) pemutaran film, foto-foto serta praktek lapangan yaitu kunjungan ke pelabuhan. Selain itu peserta diberi contoh tentang pemeriksaan DNA ikan dengan tool kit.
Inspector Training Workshop on Implementation of the FAO Port States Measures Management carried out by exposure to the material in Agreement on Port States Measures to Prevent, deter, and eliminate illegal, undreported, and undregulated fishing (IUU fishing) as well as film screenings, photographs and field practice (visit to the harbor). In addition, participants were given examples of the DNA examination of the fish with the tool kit.
Inspector Training Workshop on the FAO Port States Measures Management dihadiri sebanyak 29 peserta yang terdiri dari 9 negara anggota Regional Plan of Action (RPOA), yaitu Brunei Darussalam (2 orang), Kamboja (2 orang), Indonesia (5 orang), Malaysia (8 orang), Papua New Guinea (2 orang), Singapura (2 orang), Thailand (2 orang), Timor Leste (2 orang), Vietnam (2 orang) dan Solomon Island (2 orang) serta Kepulauan Solomon yang merupakan negara non-RPOA.
Inspector Training Workshop on the FAO Port States Measures Management participated by 29 participants from 9 RPOA participating countries, i.e Brunei Darussalam (2 persons), Cambodia (2 persons), Indonesia (5 persons), Malaysia (8 persons), Papua New Guinea (2 persons), Singapore (2 persons e), Thailand (2 persons), Timor Leste (2 persons), Vietnam (2 persons) and the Solomon Islands (2 persons).
Sedangkan Instruktur sebanyak 3 orang dari Australian Fisheries Management Authority (AFMA) yaitu Mr. John Davis, Mrs. Bonny Webb dan Mr. Ben Bosschieter.
While the 3 instructors are from the Australian Fisheries Management Authority (AFMA), namely Mr. John Davis, Mrs. Bonny webb and Mr. Ben Bosschieter.

Rekomendasi dari Inspector Training Workshop on the FAO Port States Measures Management antara lain agar peserta training dapat meneruskan pelatihan di negara masing-masing yang berhubungan dengan FAO Port States Measures Agreement.
One of recommendations from the Inspector Training Workshop on the FAO Port States Measures Agreement is, each participant could keep the training up in their own counties relevant with FAO Port State Measures Agreement.
